Midnight’s Master

Book Three in the Midnight Trilogy
ISBN: 0758234260
Release Date: June 30, 2009

In a world of shadows, desire conquers all…

In this sexy, gripping novel, Cynthia Eden draws readers deeper into the realm of the Others—vampires, shifters, and sinfully attractive demons whose powers are matched only by their dark hungers…

Tall, dark, and formidable, Niol Lapen is the last demon on earth most people would ask for a favor, yet the sexy little reporter who wanders into his club dares to do exactly that. Holly Storm already knows too much about his kind, and Niol has no wish to help her get in deeper over her head. But working alongside her may be the only way to stop a killer, even as it ignites a primal desire unlike anything he’s known.

Holly has seen firsthand what Niol is capable of, but that doesn’t frighten her nearly as much as her body’s instinctive reaction to him, or the wild, fierce passion that would tempt her to follow him through hell itself. Something evil and relentless is prowling the streets of Atlanta. And as Holly’s search leads her into danger that even Niol could never have predicted, she’ll uncover a secret that could rip her world apart…

5 Minutes with Avril Ashton

In 5 Minutes, Avril Ashton on April 29, 2011 at 9:16 am

“5 Minutes with…” is a section of the blog that is a a set of questions that are pretty much the same give or take a few. That are meant for us to get to know our favorite authors a little bit more. Some are funny, some have nothing to do with their books; while others hopefully get to the “nitty-gritty” of what the author is thinking. Now let’s give a Naughty Chick welcome to Avril Ashton.

Bio:

A Caribbean transplant, Avril now lives in Brooklyn, N.Y with a Spousal Equivalent of almost eight years. Together they raise a 6 y/o daughter who loves reading and school (wonder how long that will last). Avril’s earliest memories of reading revolve around discussing plot points of The Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew with a very encouraging mother.

Always in love with the written words, Avril finally decided to do the writing in August of ’09 and never looked back. Spicy love scenes, delicious heroes, and wicked women burn up the pages of Avril’s stories, but there’ll always be a happy ending; Avril remains a believer of love in all its forms.

What project are you currently working on? (C’mon, give us a hint!) I’ve got a million and one irons in the fire, but right now I’m working on a paranormal homoerotic story, the second in my attempt at paranormal.

What is your favorite snack? Cake. Or Whipped Cream. Or chocolate. Or chocolate cake with whipped cream or…wait, what were we talking about?

I have heard from numerous authors that chocolate is the staple of their diet. Is it in yours? Hehee, see above

If you could be one of your characters – Who would you be?  And why? I’m a little bit like all of my characters, but I’d love to be Sasha from my first published novel A Wicked Ride. She is just nuts!

Who or what influences you when you write? Music. Always, music.

When you have writer’s block how do you break free? I read with music in the background. Works every time.

What is your favorite movie of all time?  The one where you can watch it and still get affected at the same spots each and every time? LOL, it’s a toss up between The Fifth Element (Multi-Pass, gah!) and Pretty Woman.

Have you ever faked sick? Yup! Do you believe in love at first sight? I believe in everything at first sight.

What character out of all your books is the closest to your personality? Sasha from A Wicked Ride

What is your favorite color besides YELLOW? Red

Boxers or briefs? Commando

Red Pill or Blue Pill? No pill, Tequila!

Thank you Avril for taking some time out and chatting with us. For more of Avril check out her sites.

Review: Some Girls Bite by Chloe Neill

In Chloe Neill, Paranormal Romance on April 27, 2011 at 8:05 pm

Some Girls Bite– A Chicagoland Vampires Novel
By Chloe Neill
ISBN: 9780451226259

First in a brand new series about a Chicago graduate student’s introduction into a society of vampires.

Sure, the life of a graduate student wasn’t exactly glamorous, but it was Merit’s. She was doing fine until a rogue vampire attacked her. But he only got a sip before he was scared away by another bloodsuckers’ and this one decided the best way to save her life was to make her the walking undead.

Turns out her savior was the master vampire of Cadogan House. Now she’s traded sweating over her thesis for learning to fit in at a Hyde Park mansion full of vamps loyal to Ethan Lord ‚ the Manor‚ Sullivan. Of course, as a tall, green-eyed, four-hundred- year-old vampire, he has centuries‚’ worth of charm, but unfortunately he expects her gratitude and servitude. But an inconvenient sunlight allergy and Ethan’s attitude are the least of her concerns. Someone’s still out to get her. Her initiation into Chicago’s nightlife may be the first skirmish in a war and there will be blood.

Now going off my last couple of reviews, you’d think I had it in for the paranormal/urban fantasy genre. Not so. I think there is an oversaturation of the same ole same ole and I’m over it. Imagine my surprise to pick up this book and not want to put it down. Merit is almost an anti heroine and I LOVE HER!!! I bought this book on a whim and boy am I glad I did.

Ms Neill has a whole new fresh approach to the genre that I for one found oh so very refreshing. These are the sort of vampires I want to read about. The vamp’s are humorous (well the ones that don’t take themselves seriously are lol). They are realistic and Merit struggles to hold onto her own innate beliefs while trying to assimilate into the new vampire culture she has inadvertently fallen into. She is a kick ass kind of girl rather than a sit back and watch it happen spectator.

I loved the pace of the book and the length. It was engaging, entertaining and it flowed from one chapter to the next rather than the jumping around we have seen in other books of this ilk. I went to the hairdressers and you know what, when my hair was done I was like “BUT I HAVEN”T FINISHED MY BOOK YET”. Not to say that my hair takes that long or the book is that short or that I am a speed reader but the last thing I wanted to do was have to stop reading so I could drive home to finish reading. I wanted it ALL NOW. Perhaps one of the stand outs of this book is that sure there was a bit of sexual tension between some of the protagonists however it was a secondary item. If that It was like the music you put on in the background when you want to relax. You know it’s there, you can hear it but it doesn’t detract from what you are doing.

Read Chapter One from Chloe’s website
I’m now off to read the ARC of Friday Night Bites, second in the Chicagoland Vampire series.

Review: Blood Noir by Laurell K Hamilton

In Laurell K Hamilton, Paranormal Romance, review on April 25, 2011 at 8:09 pm

So I am laying here excited about my new blog and can’t sleep. Well I’ll Read I think to myself. Wrong! My kindle is in my office and I am too lazy to get up. So What is near the bed a copy of  Blood Noir by Laurell K Hamilton. I am no longer a really big fan of hers but I still want to know what happens to the characters. So as I am re-reading this book for the millionth time. I get toward the end and think Somone needs to just kill off Richard. And I can prove my case too. But not without spoilers for those that have not read all of her books. I will just sum it up for you. He started out to be a major player then took back seat to a mystical metaphysical power. Now he whines about his anger and being a “monster” all the time. Along with that after 16 books he hasnt got it in his head that he is no longer “with” the girl. He is a clingy selfish bastard that Laurell needs to find a way to replace/write-off as soon as possible.

Ok I am off my soap box and I am almost ready to go to sleep. I just have to say one more thing.

HI MOM!!!!!

Michele Obrien rocks.

Review: Sierra Cartwright’s Hawkeye Series

In Erotica, review, Sierra Cartwright on April 19, 2011 at 8:18 pm

Hawkeye One: Danger Zone

by Sierra Cartwright

Series: Hawkeye; Next Book: Bend Me Over

Genre: BDSM LGBT Ménage

Who’s watching you…?

The highly specialized Hawkeye team protects the world’s most valuable things, secrets, even people. But now one of their own needs protecting. There’s a cool million dollar bounty on Dom Wolf Stone’s head. Trouble is, Stone’s a loner and doesn’t want the help.

That doesn’t stop his submissive and former lover, Nate Davidson, or another determined agent, Kayla Fagan, from showing up at his Colorado ranch, uninvited. The spark, the anger, the hurt is still there between Wolf and Nate, and their first kiss reignites the flames that time and distance have not diminished. With Nate’s help, Wolf uncovers Kayla’s unexplored submissive tendencies. Under the Dom’s unyielding instruction, Kayla explores her sexuality in ways that make her dizzy.

For Wolf, there’s nothing better than having two very different, very willing, very pleasing subs at his command. But Kayla and Nate both want more. In addition to his love, they want him to give up control long enough to share his life completely. And that’s the one thing Wolf is incapable of giving.

Hawkeye Two: Bend Me Over

Genre: BDSM Multicultural

Tall, dark, handsome, and oh-so dangerous.

That’s Trace Romero, Aimee’s new bodyguard. Aimee has no desire to share her home with anyone, especially a Hawkeye operative who invades her space and thoroughly dominates her.

If it were up to him, Trace would be in a South American jungle, mixing it up with bad guys instead of playing bodyguard to the uptight college professor who makes him anything but welcome. But when he finds a stash of her BDSM novels, protecting the professor’s body suddenly gets more interesting.

Aimee would send him on his way, if her sister weren’t so concerned about the break in at her house, and if she hadn’t threatened protective custody. But protective custody might have been slightly less overwhelming than Trace demanding her complete capitulation, mind and body, and more — her total trust. But that trust may be the only thing standing between her and a madman determined to kill her.

I Loved this book. Bend Me Over was so hot I had to change clothes three times. I am going to go back and get the first one. Thanks Sierra for creating a spanking hot masterpiece.
