So, I am trolling again for quickies, reads not sex, and I come across this little read from Cat Johnson. 8 Second Ride, is a short from her Studs in Spurs series. I have to say, it was hilarious. I can see the entire story unfolding like some adult “Dukes of Hazzard” episode, with the commentary too. In addition, since I started to read and review outside my normal comfort zone with Emma Lang’s, Matthew, I think I will continue and try a contemporary western too. So here’s to you, ladies of western romance, for converting an old friend to a new sub genre.

Blurb: Elyn Castel spent 50 years as the slave of a vampire sociopath. Now, thanks to cyborg bodyguard Jarl “Blade” Bladin, Kruz is dead. But Blade is after Elyn now, and she has to do everything she can to get away from Blade. But that’s easier said than done…
Review: Angela Knight writes such sexy savageness it makes me want to jump nearest man, sometimes. But I can control my sexually heightened state, years of practice in the military I guess.
I read this story in a few hours, amid my Mommy duties, and it has great sex and nice imagery. I would have liked it to have read the history of the two main characters. And there might even be a novella out there but I didn’t know before I started reading it. It gave enough of the history between Blade an Elyn for me to get a really good idea of how she screwed him over. Otherwise, I would recommend this and any other of Angela’s books. I really like the worlds she creates and she is a really awesome person, very friendly when you meet her. So I am going to pimp her books forever.
Yes, me. I have been thinking long and hard about what I want to do with my new found talent. I have a interest in writing short fantasy/speculative fiction. I didn’t know that being a professional liar felt so good.
I have read many of my favorite authors and have talked with them on their style of vomit preference. And I seem to have found mine. I am a pantser with a plan.
how did I come up with my name? I like to read some rather raunchy novels sometimes and I was thinking one day if Trixie Stilletto and Kiki Howell had a daughter together what would her name be? And that is how I came up with that name. I am paying homage to some pretty spicy authors.

A man learns to hold what is his…
It is a vast spread in the eastern wilds of the newly independent Republic of Texas, the ranch their parents fought for … and died for. To the eight Graham siblings, no matter how much hard work or hard love it takes, life is unthinkable without family…
In the wake of his parents’ murder, Matthew Graham must take the reins at the Circle Eight. He also needs to find a wife in just thirty days, or risk losing it all. Plain but practical, Hannah Foley seems the perfect bride for him . . . until after the wedding night.
Their marriage may make all the sense in the world, but neither one anticipates the jealousies that will result, the treacherous danger they’re walking into, or the wildfire of attraction that will sweep over them, changing their lives forever.
So truth be told, I do not read westerns, let alone western historical romance. Maybe once in a while I will read something with a hot cover, like Matthew, but not often. And it has to be one of the Wicked Writers for me to even get that far.
However, I absolutely loved this story. It’s a true love story about hardship, kindness, and the power of love. It’s was sweet and spicy like Chinese food. Yes I know I sound sappy but, it was the sweetest sexiest novel I have read in a while. I thought the roughness of Matthew was well partnered with the tenderness of Hannah. It just made me wanna cry. They married for convience and loved blosomed anyway. I think that Ms. Lang has a good thing going with this.I hope to read more from her in the future.

Sins of the Demon
Mass Market Paperback
Sex:2 (urban fantasy not a lot of sex)
The homicide beat in Louisiana isn’t just terrifying, it’s demonic. Detective Kara Gilligan of the supernatural task force has the ability to summon demons to her aid, but she herself is pledged to serve a demonic lord. And now, people who’ve hurt Kara in the past are dropping dead for no apparent reason. To clear her name and save both the demon and human worlds, she’s in a race against the clock and in a battle for her life that just may take her to hell and back.
I love how Ms. Rowland builds her worlds, and I like the police stuff. I really think that there could have been a little more interaction between Kara and Ryan. But I can understand the characters choices. The bad guy in this book, I did not see coming. Perhaps there was some fore-shadowning but honestly I was not paying any attention to it. I was too busy going “WTF!” and “Your SHITTING ME!” The twist and turns got to me and I just stopped noticing the detail and was trying to play catch up. There was a lot going on in this book and then the ending is a dozy.
Continue on if you want to see some (but not all) of the spoilers I have the *wahh* button on.
Now that I have your attention.
I am half way through Sins of the Demon and I have to vent. If you have read it great you know where I am going from. If not then go back now. You have been warned.
So far let me get this straight feel free to comment if I get it wrong and I am wigging out for absofricken-lutley nothing.
So here is what I know so far:
Eilahn got a cat.
Kara got the hots for the new guy, Tracy.
Zach was/is being a dick by not talking to Kara.
And she trashed yet another car.
All that was before chapter five. 🙂 But the good news is that the cat helped them figure out whom was a summoner or not. Evidently, cats don’t like summoners but they love demons.
Oh and some more huge effin news, which the book hints to pretty damn big, a baby has been conceived. I am not telling you who the parents are, but this has changed some things.
So, I have said a few spoilers but I won’t tell you the entire book. Now my questions are few but they are huge.
Why does the remaining family members of the six dead summoners always try to kill Kara?
If someone took something from you but you got it back wouldn’t you try to protect it better?
Rhaz, needs to start acting like he wants to keep Kara but sometimes I wonder!?
I thought that since we now know Ryan is or was a demon lord, what happens now, business as usual even withKara gone?
Oh and WTF her best friend is pregnant by Zach, whom is a demon! Are they gonna have demon-human hybrid babies that try to take of the world and is Ryan gonna finally find out he is a demon lord when Zach has to tell him that he is going to be a father. Oh boy, I wanna be a fly on the wall for that talk.
Okay so some of these questions I will pose to you my fellow readers, let’s speculate.
