Why PRIDE is awesome…
As a writer of LGBT books, it seems silly to say that going to a PRIDE event is not only awesome but an effective way to promo your books. It’s sort of a DUH moment……
I have been to dozens of cons for writers and book signings/readings at libraries. And how many of them had a beer tent (lol you know a gal needs a refreshment) and THOUSANDS of potential readers?
Well, the answer would be none.
If you write any form of LGBT fiction, have you ever thought about promoting your books at a PRIDE event near you? Not only is it fun, but it is a chance to meet the peeps who love your books, find new readers, AND give back to a community that will always be there for you.
I will be preparing another booth in August for Toledo Pride 2013 to help spread awareness about how much awesome LGBT fiction is available to readers. Sometimes they just don’t know where to look. As a writer the phrase m/m is second nature, but it has been surprising to me how many people do not know that term.
It is up to us as authors to educate the public.
Attending PRIDE events will help fans and future readers not only know how to find great LGBT books, but it will direct them right to your books.
And hell….let’s face it. It’s a lot of fun too!
If you have any ideas or Qs about how to organize a Pride event near you, please feel free to message me on Facebook.
